THROUGH THIS BLOG, Pangkabuhayan Foundation Inc. would like to relay this message:

Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile
Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada
Senator Ramon ‘Bong’ Revilla Jr.
Buhay Party-list Rep. Rene Velarde

I’m sure marami d’yang tulad namin.

untitledNope Benedict
For the last time, Pope Benedict XVI boarded a helicopter and left the Vatican. But the pilot got confused and the helicopter landed on the venue of the Survivor finalé.

The Vatican has removed Benedict XVI’s tweets – all of them. Doing what the Vatican does best – coverup.

Pope Benedict XVI’s tweets have been removed by the Vatican. Benedict is giving up Twitter for Lent.

The Vatican has deleted Pope Benedict XVI’s official account on Twitter… prompting the ex-Pope to re-join Friendster.

Wait a minute. So the next Pope automatically gets 1.6 million followers? Unfair!

BREAKING: The Commission on Audit is releasing a damaging report on Pope Benedict XVI

From My Inbox
Reports say Filipino Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, one of the youngest members of the College of Cardinals, is a potential candidate to succeed Benedict XVI. There have been rumors though that if Tagle gets the coveted post, some senior cardinals may skip the flag ceremony. (Sent by Mr. Joji Isla)

In Japan…
The Guinness Book of World Records has named 114-year-old Misao Okawa of Osaka, Japan the oldest woman in the world. Okawa’s nursing home director says the centenarian eats “everything” and “anything she wants.” I knew it! Dieting shortens life!
“Power attracts the corruptible. Absolute power attracts the absolutely corruptible.”
~Frank Herbert

Sound Bites
“The demolition work against UNA leaders has intensified because the LP cannot deny what is happening on the ground: Big crowds are attending UNA rallies and sorties, while their political events are nilalangaw.”
~UNA spokesperson Toby Tiangco on the COA Report

“Thank you for your love and support. May you always experience the joy that comes from putting Christ at the centre of your lives.”

BEFORE DAWN Thursday, the House of Representatives approved on second reading the Reproductive Health Bill. Thank God!

After 14 long years, the Lower House – voting 113 to 104 approved on second reading the Reproductive Health Bill. That was historic! And then Jules Ledesma showed up to vote. That was miraculous!

Members of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines were in full force at the Lower House. But Congress still passed the bill. A historic vote despite the pre-historic presence.

Seated at the gallery was Lipa, Batangas Archbishop Ramon Arguelles who closely monitored the voting. Later, representatives from Batangas province (all 5 of them!) voted AGAINST the RH Bill. The five solons were commended by another anti-RH advocate, alcalde-mayor Vilma Santos.

In defending their votes, a number of congressmen mentioned the Catholic Church, the Apostles’ Creed, Mama Mary, and God Almighty – which prompted God to call and say, “Tigilan n’yo na ang panggagamit sa aking pangalan. Kapag nagnanakaw naman kayo, ‘di n’yo ako naaalala. Okthxbye.”

Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao voted against the RH Bill. Pacquiao has now lost three straight.

A congressman was quoted to have said, “If the Reproductive Health Bill was passed in the ‘50s, I’d probably would not be here today.” And his constituents were like, “Sayang!”

In voting ‘no’ to the RH Bill, outgoing marginalized sector representative Mikey Arroyo said, “Hindi ko pwedeng isuko ang aking pagka-Katoliko.” Didn’t you just do that when you married your second cousin?

Iloilo Rep. Augusto Syjuco recited the Apostles’ Creed in defending his vote against the bill. I wonder what prayer he recited when he was charged with plunder.

JinkeePacman Returns
The one, and the only Manny Pacquiao is back. On Wednesday morning, Pacman’s plane landed at round 6, excuse me, around 6.

According to Pacquiao’s assistant trainer, Buboy Fernandez, Manny’s first words upon regaining consciousness after his knock down was, “Boy, nasa’n ka?” To which, Jinkee Pacquio said, “Ah, ganun?! Fine! Hmpf!”

In Ring Magazine’s pound-for-pound ranking, Manny Pacquiao drops to No. 7. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is still No. 1 while Juan Manuel Marquez is at No. 3. The biggest surprise of all was Mommy Dionisia who’s now at No. 6.

From No. 2, Manny Pacquiao has dropped to No. 7 in Ring Magazine’s pound-for-pound ranking. But that was way better than Mon Tulfo who totally dropped out of the list.

Apparently, Canadian pop star Justin Bieber is not a fan of Manny Pacquiao. But I don’t think it’s fair to pillory Justin because of that. You have to understand the kid. In Canada, they only see boxing in hockey arenas.

A congressman has filed a resolution urging the Department of Education to include the inspiring life story of sports icon Manny Pacquiao in the curriculum of grade school pupils. As a sign of gratitude, Pacquiao will file a resolution urging the Commission on Higher Education to include the life story of other congressmen in financial management.

popePope Online
Pope Benedict XVI has finally tweeted. In his first tweet, he addressed his followers as “Friends.” Cool! The next time he uses “Dude,” I’ll be more impressed.

In his sixth tweet, the Pope asked for suggestions on how “to be more prayerful when we are so busy with the demands of work, families and the world.” His followers replied, “BRB, may tatapusin lang.”

Pope Benedict XVI a.k.a. Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger of Germany is now on Twitter. Beware! Rumors say he’s a grammar Nazi.

nikoSalvaged Online
Atenean cager Nico Salva was criticized and lambasted by netizens (mostly Azkal fans) for tweeting that the football match (Suzuki Cup semifinals) on TV last Wednesday night was boring. I have no idea what Salva was talking about. I fell asleep.

The Azkals lost that match against Singapore. And for the Azkaleros, the last thing you wanna read was a tweet like Salva’s. I totally understand them. Nobody understands the pain of losing more than us, Lakers fans.

Apparently, gaming website Friendster is bringing back its social networking features. In other news, Nokia is bringing back 3210.
“I’m completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.”
~ George Carlin

Quote of the Day
“In the dying seconds of my 6th round vs Marquez, a single punch knocked me out. Some thought I was dead. What happened in Vegas strengthened my already firm belief of the sanctity of life.”
~Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao defending his vote against the RH Bill

Have a great weekend!

WELCOME, 2010!

Happy New Year everyone! First, some good news…

Wesley So
Pinoy chess whiz Wesley So is now ranked 76th in the world. He is the highest-rated Filipino chesser today with a rating of 2656 based on the ELO system used by the World Chess Federation. Of course, if the system used was that of Pulse Asia or SWS, Noynoy Aquino would be No. 1.

Wesley So II
Chess whiz Wesley So is the No. 1 ranked chesser in the country today. But Sen. Manny Villar is confident he could narrow the gap and eventually catch him up.

Facebook Friends
According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Sen. Noynoy Aquino has the most number of Facebook friends and supporters. Sen. Manny Villar is in second while Atty. Gilbert Teodoro is in third. Trailing them is deposed president Joseph Estrada who is nonetheless unfazed mainly because, as of press time, he has the most number of friends in SexyPinay.Com.

New Year Casualties
Contrary to the initial claim of the Health Department, 2009 was not a safer year than 2008 in terms of firecracker-related injuries. A total of 807 people were injured in 2009 – 18 percent more than last year’s tally of 683. According to the DOH, the five most popular firecrackers used from December 21, 2009 to January 2, 2010 were piccolo,1st; kwitis, 2nd; five-star, 3rd; pla-pla, 4th; and whistle bomb, 5th. Now here’s the weird part of that report: in 6th place was Noynoy Aquino. [Na naman!?]

The Galeras volcano in southeastern Colombia erupted Saturday night, but there were no immediate reports of deaths or injuries. Now here’s the surprising part, Colombians who survived the disaster are thanking Albay Gov. Joey Salceda for the rescue efforts.

The Pope’s Message
In his traditional New Year’s Day Mass, Pope Benedict XVI called for peace and tolerance, and the protection of children from violence. He also advised parishioners to be vigilant, and avoid women in red, hooded sweat shirts.

Happy New Year!
A Postscript

It’s already the third day of a new year and a new decade, but fascinating trivia about our politicians’ New Year’s Eve celebration just keep on coming! Indulge!

Unknown to many, President Arroyo has remained superstitious. On New Year’s Eve, she jumped 12 times.

Deposed president Joseph Estrada believes in numerology. At 8 o’clock on New Year’s Eve, he displayed eight of his favorite fruits on the table. The next day at exactly 8 am, he gave them away to his eight mistresses.

Before midnight last December 31, Erap also tried to settle his differences with Sen. Panfilo Lacson by sending him a New Year’s Day gift. But Lacson was reportedly miffed when he opened the box and found a roll of sinturon ni Hudas.

Sen. Loren Legarda never fails to welcome the New Year with a bang. Her favorite firecracker is the super lolo!

Sen. Noynoy Aquino welcomed the New Year solemnly and peacefully: no fireworks, no firecrackers. He only lit a pack of Marlboro Lights.

Sen. Lito Lapid suffered from poisoning on New Year’s Eve. He reportedly tried to play the piccolo, which he thought was a musical instrument.

Sen. Richard Gordon didn’t have to rely on firecrackers to drive away evil spirits on New Year’s Eve. At the stroke of midnight, he just kept talking.

“When the clock strikes 12,” a feng shui expert tells Cong. Mikey Arroyo, “open all doors and windows so that good luck will flow into your house” to which Mikey replied, “Which house?”

To sustain his good fortune, Sen. Manny Villar didn’t just open doors and windows. He opened the gates of his subdivisions.

Finally, Sen. Mar Roxas reportedly earned the ire of Korina Sanchez on New Year’s Eve. The lady broadcaster was quoted to have complained that, “Hirap na hirap magpaputok si Mar.”
“I’m superstitious… but not like wear the same underwear for two weeks superstitious.”

From Rushes: the gossip column of the Philippine Daily Inquirer
“A local power couple joins Hollywood stars Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins in the list of those who separated after years of partnership. The man is an industry leader, while his wife is the sister of a Top Singer. Friends of the Power Couple expressed sadness over the separation, which they hope is only temporary.”

Can you guess who they are?

Have a safe and productive week ahead!
