THE COMMISSION on Appointments or CA rejected the appointment of controversial Environment Secretary Gina Lopez. The figures were not even close. It was 8 for Gina Lopez and 16 million for CA members.

Lobby Money
Reacting to the CA’s rejection of the appointment of Gina Lopez, President Duterte said, “lobby money talks.” CA member Panfilo Lacson who rejected Lopez’s appointment said, Duterte’s remark was “a sweeping assault on the CA members’ integrity. What lobby money?” Gina Lopez supporters replied, “What integrity?”

Lawmakers who rejected the appointment of Gina Lopez to the DENR described her as “unfit” and “acting as if she were above the law.” To be fair to Gina Lopez, she’s just taking her cue from the President.

“Na-ano Lang”
People are still talking about Tito Sotto’s “Na-ano lang” comment during the confirmation hearing for DSWD Sec. Judy Taguiwalo. On Instagram, Gian Sotto defended his father saying, “Alam ng Diyos kung ano ang nasa puso ng tatay ko.” To which, God reacted, “Actually, no. I don’t.”

A confident Gian Sotto added, “Alam kong malalampasan namin ito dahil kasama namin ang Diyos.” And Satan was like, “Be fair! Give credit where credit is due. Please lang!”

A fish vendor died last weekend when the New People’s Army attacked several facilities of the Lapanday Foods Corporation in Davao City. A fuming Mayor Sara Duterte hit the Communist rebels saying they’re “delusional” and “living in an alternate universe.” In response, the NPA said, “Wrong! We’re not living in an alternate universe.”

Delusional II
According to Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, Communist rebels are “delusional people” who live in an “alternate universe.” The statement has fueled speculations the NPA rebels are on fentanyl, too.

In a strongly worded statement, Inday Sara Duterte said the attacks of the New People’s Amy “should always remind us of the twistedness of an ideology and the monsters behind it, how they employ fear and terror in their attempt to cloak their insignificance and the obsolescence of their political belief.” The statement was titled, ‘Note to Dad.’

No Endorser
Last May 2, Duterte fanatic and ‘Impeach Leni Movement’ leader Bruce Rivera claimed the impeachment complaint they drafted against the vice president was “received” by a congressman whose name was mentioned in the document. But the solon, identified later as PBA Party-list Rep. Jericho Nograles, immediately disowned the complaint and denied knowing anything about it. It was a bad day for Bruce Rivera and his cohorts. In totally unrelated news… that same day, the Senate approved the Mental Health Care Act.

New Words
More than 300 words have been added to online database and Some of the words added in 2017 were ‘cheat day,’ ‘sausage party,’ and ‘sext.’ It’s easy to find these new entries online because beside each word, there’s an image of Kiefer Ravena.

AN IMPEACHMENT complaint has been filed against President Duterte. The complaint is expected to be meted the death penalty in Congress.

Pick of the Week
From ‘The Weekly with Charlie Pickering’ an Australian satirical TV news program. Truthful, biting, hilarious.

“Resource” Person
Controversial starlet and sex advice blogger Mocha Uson was invited as resource speaker by the Philippine Army to an event that aims “to promote awareness on security challenges through intellectual discourse with experts in various disciplines.” It was an enlightening talk. She taught the soldiers the different positions during battle.

Tito Sotto, the paragon of intellect and wit at the Senate, was quoted to have said 50 percent of Filipino drivers were stupid. You ungrateful bitch! If not for their stupidity, you wouldn’t be elected senator.

Stupid II
According to Tito Sotto, more than 50 percent of Filipino drivers are stupid. In response, Filipino drivers say “more than half of senators are Tito Sotto.”

Intimate Dinner I
Senators who belong to the ‘majority’ bloc had an “intimate” dinner with their ‘amo’ – President Duterte recently. It was a lovely and satisfying evening for the senators who each had a hefty serving of Pedigree, Royal Canin, and Alpo.

Intimate Dinner II
Majority bloc senators had an “intimate dinner” with President Duterte. Before dinner started, Duterte asked Manny Pacquiao to lead the prayer. He then asked Loren Legarda to lead the singing of the Philippine national anthem. And to everyone’s surprise, he also asked Grace Poe and Alan Peter Cayetano to lead the singing of the Star Spangled Banner.

Intimate Dinner III
The Senate’s majority bloc had an “intimate” dinner with President Duterte last Tuesday. No other government official was invited although Solicitor General Jose Calida was allowed entry to award each senator with a ‘Republic Defenders’ pin.

Missing Andanar
Since losing his ‘messaging’ job two weeks ago, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar has been very quiet. Please return soon. We miss your blunders.

It was like watching Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight Manny Pacquiao all over again with the same results. Worse even. The incompetence of Manny Pacquiao was in full display when Senator Drilon interpellated him on a proposed measure. During the break, Pacquiao reportedly went to the restroom, faced the mirror and said, “Why am I doing this to myself?”

After the interpellation, Manny Pacquiao admitted he failed to answer Drilon’s questions because he had a shoulder injury.

In case you missed it…

HELLO 2016!

1 01 2016

HAPPY NEW YEAR! It’s 2016! This will be an amazing year, I promise. Kapag ‘di ito naging amazing, magpapasagasa ako sa tren kasama sina President Aquino at Sec. Jun Abaya.

2015 is over. Can someone please check if those two officials are still alive? Thank you.

Apparently, on April 4, 2013, in a campaign sortie of Team PNoy in Cavite, President Aquino vowed to complete the LRT Line 1 Project (Baclaran to Bacoor) by 2015. He added, “’Pag hindi ho nangyari ito, nand’yan ho si Secretary Abaya na nangangasiwa ng proyektong ito, dalawa na kaming magpapasagasa siguro sa train.” Of course, he was just joking. What he really wanted to say was, “’Pag hindi ho nangyari ito, nand’yan ho si Secretary Abaya. Magpapasagasa siya sa tren.“

People usually make resolutions before they ring in the new year. Some vow to lose weight. Others promise to quit smoking. President Aquino promises to stop making promises.

Eighty-nine percent of Filipinos say they are welcoming 2016 with hope according to a Pulse Asia survey. The remaining 11 percent have gotten tired of saying the same thing every year.

In the same survey, 1 in 10 Filipinos said they were not sure whether they would face the coming year with or without hope. Those Filipinos were identified as staunch Grace Poe supporters.

Missing Tayag
Curiously, the likeable, dance-loving Health Assistant Secretary Dr. Eric Tayag did not produce a dance video to promote the department’s 2015 Iwas-Paputok campaign. In other news, the number of firecracker-related injuries this year is at an all-time low. Thank you Dr. Tayag for making a sacrifice!

Goodbye Philippines
In 2014, a drunk man identified as Ronald Vericio of Sta. Mesa, Manila reportedly tried to lie on a lit ‘Sinturon ni Hudas.’ He survived. Last night, New Year’s Eve, Vericio blew himself up by hugging a lit bomb-like firecracker called ‘Goodbye Philippines.’ He wasn’t as lucky this time. He died. A check on his high school year book revealed Vericio was voted by his classmates as “Most-likely to succeed as a suicide bomber.”

A drunk man died when he hugged a lit ‘Goodbye Philippines’ firecracker on New Year’s Eve. If it’s any consolation, he died doing what he loved most: hurting himself.

Ronald Vericio, a man from Manila died after hugging a lit ‘Goodbye Philippines’ firecracker. Before that, he has also tried to lie on a lit ‘Sinturon ni Hudas.’ Probers described Vericio as short, middle-aged, and clingy.

The Priest
A priest in Biñan, Laguna was reportedly suspended after a video of him riding a “hoverboard” while officiating a Christmas Eve mass went viral. Fr. Albert San Jose has been ordered by his superiors to take a break from his duties. Nonetheless, Father San Jose vows to continue monitoring his parish using his newly-purchased drone.

5 04 2015

THE LONG vacation has come to an end. Those who repented during the Holy Week break can go back now to being their usual, despicable selves. Welcome back!

The season of Lent is over. According to the Bible, after the arrest, trial, crucifixion, and death of Jesus, he shockingly returned in the end. Fans of ‘The Walking Dead’ call it, “season finalé.”

Sec. Herminio ‘Sonny’ Coloma is out as presidential spokesperson. He was reportedly replaced by TESDA director general Joel Villanueva who has impressed the President with his performance. Under Villanueva’s leadership, TESDA has created an unprecedented number of jobs. And TV commercials.

Hardworking TESDA chief Joel Villanueva will soon be very visible as he’s just been appointed presidential spokesperson. Sources say the President has several reasons for appointing Villanueva to the post. And by several, we mean a lot – like hundreds perhaps, or a thousand or 2,016. We don’t know.

Sample Q & A With Presidential Spokesman Joel Villanueva

Q: Secretary, is it true that the President is sick and he’s keeping the truth from the public?
V: That’s not true. And even if he’s sick, he must not be afraid. As Jeremiah 30:17 said, “For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord.” Next question please…

Q: Sir, sabi ng Makabayan bloc, the President is a liar and has not told the entire truth about the Mamasapano incident. Your reaction…
V: The President respects the militants’ right to free speech but this I tell you, “On the day of judgment. people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew Chapter 12, Verses 36 and 37.

Q: Sir, are you running for senator in the next election?
V: To be honest, I have not made a decision. But if it’s God’s will, who am I to refuse?  “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Jeremiah 29:11. Last question please.

Q: Secretary, there have been rumors that the President is dating Pia Wurtzbach. Are they exclusively dating?
V: Ha-ha Kayo talaga. It’s a personal and very private matter between the President and Ms. Wurtzbach. As 1 Thessalonians 4:11 said, “Aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs.” Thank you.

Income Tax
The month of April has become synonymous with taxes. As residents of Makati City, we should remit our taxes promptly this year. Two mayors are now counting on us.

The BIR has a TV ad that shows where your taxes go: infrastructure, education, and social services. Politicians were offended by the apparent snub.

When my friends and I started working, we were told that our taxable income would be significantly reduced if we had “dependents.” So on the BIR form, we made a list of people who depended on us: senators, congressmen, governors, and mayors.

All public servants are also required to file their Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Networth or SALN on or before the April 30 deadline. Sources say this early, President Aquino has accomplished his SALN form. Under ‘Liability,’ he wrote, ‘Alan Purisima.’

Hakot System?
A Makati City resident admits people who are gathered at the city hall are being paid 300 pesos for 12 hours and 500 pesos for 24 hours. Critics describe them as “hakot.” The Binays insist they’re “self-employed.”

Hundreds of Makati City residents are brought to the city hall every day just to sit there and kill time. And they each receive 300 pesos for that. Yes, these people get paid for absolutely doing nothing. Who do you think you are?! Congressmen?!?

Emergency Landing
An EasyJet A320 flight heading to Kosovo from Geneva was forced to make an emergency landing in Rome because a ‘hungry’ passenger became impatient and punched a stewardess. The airline has denied rumors that the passenger was a washed-up actress from the Philippines.
