THE POPE, NOYNOY, BINAY, AND MORE

16 01 2015

POPE FRANCIS is in the Philippines for a 5-day pastoral and state visit. Or as many Filipino Catholics call it, “Good Behavior Observance Week.”

1Cabinet1
On Friday, Pope Francis paid a courtesy call on President Aquino in Malacañang. The Cabinet was in full force including Vice President Binay. Out of gratitude to his gracious hosts, Pope Francis skipped his original plan of performing group exorcism.

During a general audience with Pope Francis, President Aquino, in a speech in Malacañang, mentioned something about injustice. He asked, “If it is a sin to steal, who is the greater sinner: the desperate man in an impossible situation forced to steal to feed his starving family, or the politician with an insatiable greed who, despite not having real material needs, stole from the public coffers?” Among those present in Malacañang were Vice President Binay and former President Joseph Estrada. I have no punchline. I am just saying that they’re both there.

Conversations With the Pope
1PNoy
“O Noy, last na ‘yang RH Law huh! Baka naman pati ‘yong Divorce Bill, ikampanya mo pa. Sikmuraan na kita. Baka nakakalimutan mo, bouncer ako noong araw.”

1Bnay1
“Miss, dito ba talaga dadaan si Pope? Bakit sina Mar wala rito? ‘Nililigaw mo ‘ko no? Anti-Binay ka ba?”

“Naku Vice, grabe naman kayong manghusga. Atat? ‘Wag ho kayong mag-alala. Kayo ang unang magmamano sa kanya. Ingat. Jooooke!”

1Bnay

‘Tang-i…

Move on. KthxBye.”

“Papa Francis, hindi kita kinakaya. Bongga ka talaga! Ang dami mong followers. Pray for me huh! I know I’ve been a good mom and I’m sure happy ka na do’n. Pero you know naman my past ‘di ba? Aha-ha-ha ‘Tsaka remind lang kita, wala pa akong love life. So please, please, please! Pray for me naman para makahanap na ako ng matinong guy. Aha-ha-ha! Kaloka!”

“Mirakulo ang hinihiling mo hija. But I’ll try. Love. Love. Love.”

SAMANTALA…
WALANG PAGBABAGO. #EpalVisit

Sound Bites
“The courage and daring displayed by the clergy solidified my belief: Especially during the Martial Law years, the Church of the poor and oppressed shone vividly. Hence, there was a true test of faith when many members of the Church, once advocates for the poor, the marginalized, and the helpless, suddenly became silent in the face of the previous administration’s abuses, which we are still trying to rectify to this very day.”
~President Aquino, Malacañang, January 16, 2015

“Good Behavior Observance Week” | Perspectives in Development and Evaluation

[…] The Professional Heckler, a blogger I follow, describes the current state of the nation thus:  POPE FRANCIS is in the Philippines for a 5-day pastoral and state visit. Or as many Filipino Catholics call it, “Good Behavior Observance Week.” […]

Hello there. (The exclamation mark in my keyboard doesn’t work.)

Just want to share this corny joke about the Pope and the Binays.

What is taong grasa in Italian?
Taong grazie

What did the Pope whisper to Cardinal Tagle when he first saw Jejomar Binay?
Taong grazie.

Out of the goodness of his heart, the first thing that Pope Francis did when he saw Nancy Binay was to offer the latter a job in Italy.
Street-sweeper at the Piazza San Pietro.

What did the Pope whisper to Cardinal Tagle when he saw Mayor Jun Jun Binay?
Anak ng taong grazie.

Have a merry weekend. (Again, sira and keyboard.)
