EXCLUSIVE: VICE BREAKS SILENCE

OFFICIAL STATEMENT
May 29, 2013

Agad-agad, may umalma.
Agad-agad, may nanghusga.

~Vice Ganda
(May 17 concert)

“Rape is not a joke and should never be material for a comedy concert. I thank all those who shared my hurt and expressed their support, but this should not be about me but about rape victims who suffer tremendously from this terrible crime. The horrors they go through are unspeakable and should never be taken lightly, especially by way of a cruel joke.”

  1. I think, that there’s more to the rape issue that triggered Ms Soho’s anguish. I watched the footage of the concert, and sadly he went over board to a point of bullying. Bullying is not acceptable either and nobody want’s to make fun of peoples insecurities. It’s a very sensitive matter.

    1. you should have read Ms. Soho’s statement and check out if you understood it correctly. On face value at least, it was an opportunity for Ms. Soho to raise awareness about rape and to correct people’s perspective about that very sensitive issue.

That statement of Ms. Soho actually made me remember that time I watched news where an 8 year old or something was interviewed after being raped. Watching that, her face intentionally being blurred by the camera, she who was way too innocent and naive as to how she will answer the reporter.. it was one of the most revolting news I’ve seen on TV that I could feel like looking for that man and beat him.

Anyway, as to whether Ms. Soho said that in order to amass public sympathy is something I cannot judge from the statement she made, but I am glad that it also somehow served as a reminder that there are that should never be crossed. I think Mr. Vice Ganda has the intellectual capacity to be looking out at those boundaries when doing his professional work as a comedian.

At the end of the day, nagkakamali din ang tao. Ang importante, nagkakapatawaran at nagmamahalan.

At kay Ms. Charo, padaan lang po. 😀
