TRAVEL TIME

UPDATED (As of 7AM, Wednesday) Despite the High Court’s decision allowing her to leave the country, former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was prevented by Immigration authorities to board her flight Tuesday night. Immigration officials said they were just following orders from Chief Justice Leila De Lima.

Quote of the Week

~Lawyer Ferdinand Topacio

Interviewed on ANC, lawyer Ferdinand Topacio said “’Ipapatanggal ko ang itlog ko kapag ‘di bumalik ang mga Arroyo.” This just in: Topacio’s balls have filed a petition for temporary protection order.

THE SUPREME COURT has voted to allow former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to leave the country and seek medical treatment abroad. The decision was met with loud boos from Malacañang people who thought their lawyers did enough to win.

Malacañang lost despite the fact that it dictated the tempo early on and was obviously the more aggressive fighter throughout the legal battle.

Arroyo won against Malacañang, 8 justices to 5. Sought for reaction, Mrs. Arroyo said, “I think I clearly won the fight.”

When Mario Lopez learned about the Hight Court’s decision, he opined, “Gloria Arroyo is Noynoy Aquino’s Joe Frazier.”

The Supreme Court has allowed former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to leave the country. When she heard the good news, Mrs. Arroyo instructed her aide to prepare her red scarf.

The Dominican Republic has issued a statement denying Justice Sec. Leila De Lima’s unverified report that former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo had sought asylum in the Carribean nation. De Lima has apologized to the Arroyos. But that, too is unverified.

Pacquiao for Prexy?
Interviewed on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight, Top Rank CEO and boxing promoter Bob Arum said he’d help Manny Pacquiao win the Philippine presidency when Pacman turns 40. Asked how, Arum replied he’d recommend to the Comelec the use of CompuBox to tally the votes.

On the eve of his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez, Manny Pacquiao and wife, Jinkee reportedly had a very nasty argument. Loyal fans refused to believe the report because it came from Secretary Leila De Lima.

Some people are saying Manny Pacquiao appeared distracted during his fight with Juan Manuel Marquez. And they’re blaming Jinkee’s hairstyle.

Interviewed by ABS-CBN News’ Dyan Castillejo, Manny Pacquiao apologized to the fans for not meeting their expectations. The report didn’t say if he had apologized to Jinkee for committing transgressions.

Filipinos are divided on the result of the Pacquiao-Marquez fight. They seem to agree on one thing though – Dyan Castillejo is the female Jake Joson.

Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao was not in her usual self last Sunday. It was revealed she was suffering from arteritis.

After watching Manny Pacquiao’s fight, former boxing champion Rolando Navarette, said “Wala siya sa kondisyon.” To which Manny said, “Look who’s talking!”

  1. Jinkee’s new hairstyle looks like a wig, though mas malala pa rin yung buhok ni Rep. Winnie Castelo. Hehe. Dahil lifted indefinitely ang hold departure order against GMA, mukhang hindi pwedeng madaliin ng Aquino gov’t ang pagpapabalik sa kanya. Poor De Lima. Share ko lang po itong blog ko:

…no offense meant, pero sana hindi maging basis ito to gauge the intelligence of pinoy movie-going public. kakahiya. sana ung mga nanood e tlgang mga desperado lng na kailangan nilang magpalipas ng oras.

…most of all, i sincerely hope na mayroon lng another lintang bedol and ang ABS-CBN. calling mr. alfie lorenzo, totoo po ba ang mga figures nila?

    1. figures are from cinemas, actual box office sales, not from abs.

…i remember when Jose Mari Chan was saddened by having Nina leveled with him for a “Diamond Record” awardee when in fact he had gotten that accolodate for 50 million record sales against Nina’s 20 million.

…star records, having continually showered its abs-cbn talents with plaque, gold, and platinum praises on their ASAP world-of-make-believe will really do everything, as in everything to gain profit. just business and damn that quality.

…wait for praybeyt benjamin part 2 people. please make it again the highest grossing filipino film ever. ever!!!!

  5. our movie makers never learn. and they call themselves ARTISTS!!! the philippine movie industry sees only the figures in pesos. most, if not all, do not enlighten or inspire the viewers. it is no wonder that after so many years, we have yet to produce low budget but highly intellectual and stimulating films like “slumdog millionaire” or “3 idiots”.

  6. I noticed from the tv footage that when pacquaio arrived in las vegas, closer than even his security guards and a blood sucking leech, was chavit singson.
It seems the gambling syndicates and boxing hangers on want to ride the gravy train for as long as they can.
‘the end game’ – gambling with the philippines.
Pacquaio needs a new strategy and new advisors or it will end in tears.

    – refund refund!! lol that’s what i felt after watching the show. syang lang ang pera ko sa pagnood ng movie, kung pagkain sana nabusog pa ako!

Chief Justice De Lima really gone crazy, she’s talking about the decision of SC is not even unanimous (via phone patch in an am news of mike enriquez ) – as if telling that therefore it is not VALID. manny should look out, De lima might contest.

    1. The 5 dissenting opinions in the Supreme Court did not even side with De Lima’s using some administrative order in cancelling a person’s right to travel even without a case filed. They merely wanted to hear an oral argument. The country has apparently shifted from the rule of law to the rule of low.

  8. not a fan of CGMA, pero parang bata si secretary de lima. dahil hindi lang nagustuhan ang decision ng SC, ayaw sumunod. so ganun na lang ba, kung ayaw ng taga-gobyerno ang kung anumang decision ng SC e basta pwede na lang i-overrule? so much for being “supreme.” tsk.

on a lighter note, 3 idiots is fun to watch. it’s usual bollywood (complete with song and dance sequences) pero maganda yung storytelling. 🙂

    aal is well!
