JANUARY 27

27 01 2010

STARTING TODAY, between regular blog posts, The Professional Heckler will bring you:

JANUARY 27th

1872: Governor Gen. Rafael de Izquierdo bestows praise to the Catholic religious orders after the Spanish colonial forces quelled the Cavite mutiny staged by Filipino rebels in the province. From that day on, Filipinos never trusted the Catholic Church again.

1977: The Vatican reaffirms the Roman Catholic Church’s ban on female priests… a decision that would eventually backfire as male priests switched their attention to altar boys.

1992: Former world boxing champion Mike Tyson is tried for allegedly raping an 18-year-old contestant in the 1991 Miss Black America Contest. The prosecution presented its strongest piece of evidence against the boxer: the victim’s severed clitoris.

1984: Michael Jackson is burned during filming for a Pepsi commercial… marking his transformation from a once cute black American boy to a scary white American woman.

2004: Former Philippine Vice President Salvador Laurel dies of lymphoma… prompting Filipinos to forgive him for misappropriating funds in the construction of the controversial P1.165-billion Centennial Expo in Clarkfield, Angeles City, Pampanga.

I guess that’s the way it is. Everything is forgiven when the person dies… not unless your name is Gloria, and your father used to be the President of the Philippines.

also in 1992, Bill Clinton and Genifer Flowers accuse each other of lying over her ASSERTION they had a 12-year affair.

today in 2010, the big issue is the INSERTION made by Senator Roxas after her marriage, as stated by Senator Nene Pimentel.

It’s sad to know that the late Vice President Laurel who gave way to Pres Corazon to run for presidency against the dictator was involved in a misappropriation scandal. I hope Sen Roxas who incidentally gave way to Pres Aquino’s offspring to run for presidency will not follow VP Laurel’s footsteps on corruption.

PH, I though MJ’s accident occured in the early 1980’s not in 1994?

“From that day on, Filipinos never trusted the Catholic Church again.”

Hmmm. But as far as I know, in the Philippines, 80% are Catholics. We all are humans and susceptible to errors whether you’re a Catholic or non-Catholic.

..becoz we are born to a catholic parents and baptized into the church before we could learn to pronounce the word “no”. at yun na ang kinagisnang religion although yung iba ay lumipat sa ibat-ibang simbahan…. i think mr.PH is referring to the church officials.. although it’s just a heckling pero may katotohanan…i for one have little trust on CBCP…did they really condemned the excesses of the arroyos administration…

We’re Catholic yeah. So much for the 10 commandments.
especially this one : Do not have any other gods before me.
So much for being for being a monotheistic religion.
